GE Dishwasher Display Issue and Refrigerator Handle Fix in Los Prados, Safety Harbor

A longtime client in the Los Prados neighborhood of Safety Harbor called about her GE dishwasher (model GDT695SSJ2SS) — the display was turning itself on with no one touching it, and lately it had been happening a lot more often.
A known issue, but not worth fixing in her case
This particular GE dishwasher design has a recurring problem with its display control board — common enough that our local parts supplier keeps them in stock regularly. I could have picked one up and had it swapped the same day.
But once we talked it through, she mentioned she barely uses the dishwasher at all. Sure enough, the inside still looked essentially new despite the unit being over five years old.
Rather than pay for a board she didn’t need, she asked to just have the dishwasher de-energized and the water supply shut off instead — so that’s what we did.
A quick fix on the side: a loose refrigerator handle
While I was there, she also asked about a handle that had come loose on her GE refrigerator. I hadn’t run into this particular handle design before, but it turned out to be simple: the handle itself just slides onto a mounting bracket. I slid it back into place, tightened the bracket’s mounting screws, and reinstalled it — solid now.
Just a service call, no repair needed
No parts, no repair bill this time — just a service call to sort out what she actually needed. If a dishwasher or refrigerator issue is bothering you, it’s worth having it looked at before assuming it needs a new part — sometimes the right fix is smaller than expected. See our dishwasher repair page or refrigerator repair page for what else we typically check.
