LG Refrigerator Not Making Ice in Westchase: Cracked Ice Maker Replaced

A client in Westchase called about their LG French door refrigerator (model LFX21976ST): no ice, and water coming out of the dispenser.
A cracked ice maker
The ice maker on this model lives in the freezer door. Opening it up showed the problem right away — the ice maker had cracked. Instead of water freezing into cubes and dropping into the bin, it was escaping through the crack, which explains both symptoms at once: no ice, and water ending up where it shouldn’t be.
Why the whole assembly had to go
Unfortunately, LG doesn’t sell the individual parts of this ice maker separately — the cracked tray can’t be swapped on its own. The only fix is replacing the entire ice maker assembly. A local supplier had the part in stock, so we came back the next day to install it.
The break in the old tray is easy to see side by side with the new one.
Result
With the new ice maker assembly installed, the refrigerator is making ice again and the dispenser is behaving normally.
If your LG refrigerator has stopped making ice and there’s water where there shouldn’t be, a cracked ice maker is one of the things worth checking — and on these models, be aware the fix is the full assembly, not a single part. See our ice maker repair page for what else we typically look at.
