LG Front-Load Washer Repair in East Lake Woodlands, Oldsmar: A Leak and a Loose Shock Absorber

A client in the East Lake Woodlands neighborhood of Oldsmar had an LG front-load washer leaking water during cycles.

The cause was visible right away on inspection, no disassembly needed: a hole torn through the door boot, the rubber gasket that seals around the drum opening, letting water past it during the wash.

An unusual find on the follow-up visit

Door boots for this washer aren’t something we carry on the truck, so this one had to be special-ordered and took a few days to arrive.

When we came back to install it, opening the washer up for the repair turned up something else: one of the drum’s shock absorbers had come detached, its mounting hardware just sitting loose nearby instead of holding it in place. Nothing else about the unit suggested a defect that would cause that on its own, so the more likely explanation is that it happened during a move; the client mentioned the washer had been brought in from another location.

We installed the new door boot and re-secured the shock absorber’s mounting hardware in the same visit.
