A very common Samsung failure

No heat on a Samsung electric dryer is one of the most common calls we get, and the heating element is usually the reason. We still ran a full diagnosis before replacing anything, to confirm where the problem was.

Getting to the heater

On this design, the heating element sits inside a metal housing — the heater can — low in the cabinet. Getting to it means taking the dryer fully apart: the front panel comes off and the drum comes out.

With the drum out, the heater can is visible along the bottom of the cabinet, along with the lint that had built up around the blower housing and ducting over four years.

The can itself is split open to reach the element inside.

Where it burnt through

Up close, the damage was clear: the coil had burnt through and broken, which opens the circuit and leaves the dryer with no heat.

Side by side, the new element (top) and the old one (bottom) show how much heat damage the old element had taken.

New element in, dryer cleaned out

We keep this heating element on the truck at all times, so the repair was done on the spot. The new element went into the heater can, and the can went back together.

While the dryer was apart, we gave it a full cleaning — the lint around the blower, ducting, and cabinet floor all came out.

Result

With the new element installed and everything reassembled, the dryer was tested and is heating normally again — diagnosed, repaired, and cleaned in a single visit. If your Samsung dryer runs but won’t heat, a burnt heating element is one of the first things worth checking. See our dryer repair page for what else we typically look at.
