Samsung Dryer Not Heating in Westchase: A Blown Thermal Fuse

A client in Westchase called about their Samsung dryer — it was running, but not heating at all.

Tracing it to a blown thermal fuse

With the cabinet open, the cause turned out to be a blown thermal cutoff fuse — a safety device that cuts power to the heating element if the dryer starts running too hot. That fuse normally only blows for a reason: almost always, it means airflow through the vent is restricted, so heat builds up in the duct until the fuse trips to protect the dryer.

Fixed, with a warning about the real cause

We replaced the fuse and the dryer is heating normally again. But since a blown thermal fuse is really a symptom, we made sure to flag the likely root cause to the client: the vent duct needs a proper cleaning, especially the section that runs up through the roof — that’s the part that tends to pack up with lint the worst and go unnoticed the longest.
