A client in Town ‘n’ Country called because their Frigidaire top-freezer refrigerator (model FFTR2021TWA, made in 2021) wasn’t cooling. The fresh food section was over 60 degrees. It should be around 37 to 40.
The freezer fan had stopped
On a top-freezer refrigerator like this one, all the cold air is made at the evaporator in the freezer. A fan behind the freezer’s back panel blows that air around the freezer and down through a vent into the refrigerator below. If the fan stops, the evaporator still gets cold, but the air just sits there — and the fresh food section slowly warms up.
That’s what we found: the fan in the freezer wasn’t running.
Replaced on the spot
We had the fan motor on the truck, so it was replaced right away, on the first visit. The photo shows the freezer’s back panel with the fan housing, and the old and new fan motors side by side.
Result
