Monogram Panel-Ready Dishwasher in Safety Harbor: Replacing the Stainless Control Panel Trim

- Symptom
- The stainless steel and glass trim over the control panel on a panel-ready Monogram dishwasher needed to be replaced.
- Cause
- On this model the trim isn't held on from the front. It's built into the door, so it can't just be swapped.
- Fix
- Disconnected the dishwasher, pulled it out, took the custom panel and door off, took the door apart and installed the new trim, then put everything back.
A client in Safety Harbor has a Monogram dishwasher with a custom panel that matches their white cabinets. The stainless steel and glass trim over the control buttons along the top of the door needed to be replaced.
The client planned to do it themselves and figured it would just pop off and a new one would snap on. It doesn’t work that way on this model.
More than a simple swap
On this dishwasher, the trim is built into the door. To get to it, we had to turn off and disconnect the dishwasher, pull it out of the cabinet, take off the custom panel, remove the whole door and take the door apart.
Here’s the door apart on the island, with the inner door on the left, the outer panel on the right and the Monogram trim laid across them. Only at this point can the trim actually be changed.
Back together
We installed the new trim, rebuilt the door, put the custom panel back on and slid the dishwasher back into place. Panel-ready dishwashers take a bit more care, since the custom front has to line up with the cabinets around it when it goes back. More on our dishwasher repairs.
FAQ
Can I replace the control panel trim on a Monogram dishwasher myself?
On this panel-ready model it isn't a simple swap. The dishwasher has to be disconnected and pulled out, and the door removed and taken apart before the trim comes off.
Do you work on panel-ready dishwashers with custom cabinet fronts?
Yes. We take the custom panel off carefully, do the repair and put it back so it lines up with the cabinets.
