Thermador Dishwasher Not Draining in Belleair: Circulation Pump and Heater Assembly Replaced

- Symptom
- The dishwasher wasn't draining.
- Cause
- The drain pump tested fine. The circulation pump and heater assembly had failed.
- Fix
- Replaced the circulation pump and heater assembly.
A Thermador dishwasher in Belleair, model DWHD440MFP/07, had stopped draining.
When a dishwasher won’t drain, the drain pump is where most people look first, and so did we. It tested fine. So did the power, the water supply, the spray arms, the detergent dispenser, the door seals and the control panel. The one part that didn’t pass was the circulation pump and heater assembly.
On this model the pump that moves the wash water and the heater that warms it come as a single unit, so it gets replaced as one piece.
We swapped the assembly and put the dishwasher back in place.
If yours has standing water after a cycle, clean the filter at the bottom of the tub before anything else. If that doesn’t change it, the fault is further in, and on these dishwashers it isn’t always the drain pump. There’s more on what we check on our dishwasher repair page.
FAQ
My Thermador dishwasher isn't draining. Is it always the drain pump?
No. On this one the drain pump checked out fine, along with the water supply, spray arms, dispenser, door seals and control panel. The failed part was the circulation pump and heater assembly.
Are the circulation pump and the heater separate parts on a Thermador dishwasher?
On this model, DWHD440MFP, they come as one assembly, so they're replaced together.
