Amana Washer Repair in Oldsmar: Replacing a Faulty Whirlpool Control Board

Amana top-load washer in a laundry room in Oldsmar

A client in Oldsmar had an Amana top-load washer acting up in two different ways: sometimes it would just stop partway through a wash cycle and start draining continuously, and other times it would run all the way through the cycle but then keep draining nonstop afterward.

Diagnosis

Amana is a Whirlpool brand, and this washer is built on the same platform as many Whirlpool and Maytag top-load models — so it shares their common failure points too. The symptoms here (random mid-cycle stops paired with continuous draining) point straight at the control board, a well-known weak spot on this platform.

The repair

There’s no reliable workaround for this one — once the control board starts causing symptoms like these, replacement is the fix. We installed a new Whirlpool control board (part W11607637).

Result

With the new control board in, the washer runs full cycles normally without the random stops or continuous draining. If your Whirlpool, Maytag, or Amana top-load washer is stopping mid-cycle or won’t stop draining, this is one of the first things we check. See our washer repair page for what else we look at.
