What we found

We took the rear cover off the refrigerator section to get at the evaporator and its fan.

The evaporator fan wasn’t working, so cold air wasn’t making it into the refrigerator.

The fix

We replaced the fan with a genuine GE part, the one in the box, and it’s all done.

FAQ

Why is my freezer cold but the refrigerator section warm?

On this GE the fresh food section has its own evaporator fan. When it stops, the cold air doesn't move into the refrigerator, while the freezer keeps working.

Can the evaporator fan be replaced during the same visit?

Yes. We had the part with us for this GE, took the rear cover off the section, swapped the fan and finished on site.
