Samsung Washer Stuck in a Rinse-Spin Loop in Safety Harbor: Worn Suspension Rods

Symptom
The washer wouldn't finish the spin. Partway through it went back to rinse, then tried to spin again, over and over, without showing an error.
Cause
The suspension rods that hold the tub were worn out, so the tub swung too much in spin and the washer kept stopping to rebalance.
Fix
Replaced all four suspension rods on the spot with a set we keep on the truck. The washer finishes its spin again.

A client just off Main Street in Safety Harbor called about their Samsung top-load washer (model WA45T3200AW). It wouldn’t finish the spin. Partway through, it went back to rinse, then tried to spin again, then back to rinse. It kept doing that over and over, and it never showed an error.

Why it kept going back to rinse

On a top-loader like this, the tub hangs from four suspension rods, one at each corner. They work like shock absorbers and keep the tub steady when it spins fast. When the washer senses the tub swinging too far, it doesn’t just quit. It stops, adds water and tries to even out the load, then spins again.

With worn rods, the tub swings too much every time, so the washer never gets past that point. It just keeps going around in a rinse-spin loop. That’s what was happening here.

New rods, on the spot

This is a common one on Samsung washers, so we try to always keep a set of rods with us. We lifted the top and replaced all four. You can see the new rods hooked into the corner brackets.

Here are the rods in the box after the swap.

Spinning normally again

With the new rods in, the tub stays steady and the washer finishes its spin. If your Samsung top-loader keeps going back to rinse and never finishes, the rods are the likely cause. More on our washer repairs.

FAQ

Why does my Samsung washer keep going back to rinse instead of finishing the spin?

When the washer senses the tub moving too much in spin, it stops, adds water and tries to rebalance the load. Worn suspension rods let the tub swing, so it can end up repeating rinse and spin again and again, often with no error code.

Can Samsung washer suspension rods be replaced in one visit?

Yes. It's a common repair on these Samsung top-loaders, so we try to always have a set of rods with us and replace them on the spot.
