Thermador Range Oven Won't Heat Up in Palm Harbor: Bake Igniter Replaced

- Symptom
- The oven on a Thermador gas range wouldn't heat up.
- Cause
- The bake igniter had failed.
- Fix
- Replaced the bake igniter.
No heat from the oven. That was the whole complaint on this Thermador Pro range in Palm Harbor, model PRL366JG.
In a gas oven the bake igniter is what lights the burner. When it wears out, the burner never lights, and the oven just sits there cold. That’s what had happened here.
The igniter is mounted on the end of the burner tube. We replaced it, put the burner back and ran the oven.
Blue flame along both sides of the burner, and the oven heats again.
If your gas oven stays cold, or takes far longer to preheat than it used to, the igniter is where we’d look first. More on that on our oven repair page.
FAQ
Why won't my Thermador gas oven heat up?
On a gas oven a failed bake igniter is a common cause, and that's what it was on this PRL366JG in Palm Harbor. The burner can't light without it.
Is a bake igniter a big repair on a Thermador range?
It's one part. The igniter is mounted on the oven burner, so the burner area has to be opened up to swap it.
