THOR Gas Range Repair in Clearwater Beach: Oven Running 100°F Cold

THOR gas range in a kitchen in Clearwater Beach

A client in Clearwater Beach had a THOR gas range baking noticeably cool — set the oven to 400°F, and the actual temperature inside was closer to 300°F. A gap that size makes consistent cooking pretty much impossible.

Diagnosis

We started with the usual suspects: the igniters and the gas pressure both tested within spec, so the problem wasn’t fuel delivery or ignition.

THOR range opened up, showing igniters and the oven thermostat wiring

That pointed us at the oven thermostat — the electromechanical component that tells the burner when to cycle on and off to hold temperature. Testing it confirmed it was misreading and cycling the burner off too early, which is exactly what produces a consistent, large gap between the set point and the actual oven temperature.

The repair

This model doesn’t have a calibration adjustment on the thermostat — some ranges let you dial in a small correction, but this one doesn’t, so a misbehaving thermostat can’t be tuned back into spec. Replacement was the only option.

Oven thermostat removed from the THOR range, model KKTB-18-48

Result

With the new thermostat installed, the oven now holds within about 10–15°F of whatever temperature is set — right in the normal range you’d expect from a properly working oven. The client’s back to baking with confidence.

THOR is high-end kitchen equipment, and it deserves the same careful diagnosis we’d give a Sub-Zero, Wolf, or Thermador — see our high-end appliance repair page for more on how we handle these, or our oven repair page for what we typically check on a temperature complaint like this one.
